The Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti turns pink
Cortina d'Ampezzo, August 30th 2012: vintage cars are no longer just a “men's thing”. Indeed, there have been many “pink” news in this 65th edition, starting from the number of applications which registered a 20% more of women presence compared to last year. This figure makes the whole organization very proud, especially its President Rossella Labate, supported by Daniela Pongiluppi, councillor of ACI Belluno executive board.
Rossella Labate comments: “The fascination and passion for vintage cars involve a wider target every year and women play a more and more important role. Figures confirm this theory. A eighty-year old Japanese lady is also present, the oldest competing woman, who will be her son's co-driver”.
Another confirmation is the elegant presence of the actress Giorgia Surina, guest of honour of the event. For her a blast from the engine world after the latest TV efforts.
Of great importance is the participation of foreign crews with 32 cars coming from 10 countries: Andorra, Argentina, Germany, Japan, Israel, Luxembourg, Holland, Poland, United Kingdom, Switzerland with seven Japanese crews, six German and five Swiss.
A curiosity: this year Lancia Aurelia B20 GT III Series is brought back to take part in the race with the number 74, the same car and number which brought luck to Salvatore Ammendola in 1952. He got fourth in the overall ranking at the 6th edition of Coppa d'Oro. Indeed, this year's crew, Paolo and Andrea Mazzotto, is hoping to reach the same result.
